25 May Pukeahu National War Memorial Park
The new ANZAC War memorial, part of the Pukeahu National War Memorial Park by Landscape Architects Wraight + Associates. At sundown the red sand stone captures the atmosphere of the Australian outback, fitting as the Australian component of the memorial. The Park which has been built over the new Arras Tunnel, and the Gallipoli anniversary events being held, has opened up again the stunning Dominion Museum and Carillon to the city.
This image, from the Alexander Turnball library, shows the opening of the Carillon on ANZAC Day 1932.
