Satis Garden

This expansive garden restoration project in rural Marlborough was a true collaboration between ourselves and the owners @blackwoodbespoke. The existing garden wrapped around the renovated cottage and featured large native Beech trees, an established orchard, extensive Dahlia beds and a mix of other natives and exotic species. The front gardens largely retained the existing layouts but were replanted into vibrant herbaceous borders around the heritage trees and shrubs. To the rear of the cottage a Garage, Pool and Annex Guest House were constructed around the mature trees. A series of new gardens were then created, connected by a network of paths including a planted native swale around the creek, a naturalistic garden, vegetable potagers and rose gardens. The front entrance from the south takes visitors through the ‘Blobarium’ to the house. Seating areas are provided throughout the garden for visitors to sit and enjoy - a key part of of the client’s intention that beautiful things are to be shared and enjoyed.

This garden is also featured on the cover of NZ House & Garden’s October 2024 issue and in Garden Marlborough.
